Asbestos Risk
Asbestos management is extremely high profile with any property owner where
Asbestos Containing Materials have been identified or where they are suspected,
within a property.
Asbestos was used in abundance during the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's, as a fire
resistant insulating material that could easily be mixed with many other
materials to form extra strength and durability, i.e. cement, acrylic and
bitumen.
During the 80's and 90's the negative side of asbestos usage was proved, in
that the fine fibres that make up asbestos are easily inhaled and many get
lodged in the lungs. Many deaths have occurred directly or indirectly from the
handling of asbestos due to asbestos fibre inhalation.
New legislation has been passed that makes it imperative that companies who take
on responsibility for maintainance of a building have a 'duty of care' towards
managing any identified asbestos risk, and defining those risks - by taking
samples of any suspected asbestos containing materials (ACM's) and regularly
inspecting any positive samples.
Stanburys have researched and developed an Asbestos Risk Management Solution
known as ARM. This system complies with all of the
latest Health & Safety regulations (MDHS100) and the new CAWR (2002)
regulations. It includes a re-inspection procedure, graphically displays
asbestos samples and is fully web enabled.
ARM has now become the chosen Corporate System by some of the largest Estate owners in the UK.
